I'm with Cord S Honeymoon Island State Park off of Dunedin. Remember to bring plenty of fresh cool water for your dog. After all your dog is going to the beach in a fur coat. Shade is super important for you & the dog. The sun in Florida is very strong. Remember the sunscreen for your dogs nose or a hat & sunglasses. Also check out some of the local county parks, some have fresh water lakes. Check out Hillsborough River State Park or the small beach at Lake Thonotosassa, both fresh water.
My favorite swimming hole is Lithia Springs County Park just south of Brandon. Enjoy Florida & be sure to enjoy your happy dog.

By the way, check the web site for both Hillsborough & Pinellas County to check for dog parks. I know their is a county park park in Mango just north of Brandon. It's on old ball field fenced for dogs.
